Treptower Park Berlin
collaborative project, installation, performance
125 years after the First German Colonial Exhibition, the project Sight In/Visible Site explores Berlin’s Treptower Park as a site of collective history, the historical site itself as practice and ritual. Retracing the architectural shapes built for the human zoos in 1896 with black spray paint, the artist asks what remains when history is made invisible.
How do we remember what? How is history inscribed into the soil? What constitutes a historical site? In what way is remembrance ephemeral?
performance, spoken word and sound contributions by: Black Art Action Berlin, Naomi Boima, Landouma Ipé, Kang Sunkoo, Nils Mojem, Fatima Njoya, Savannah Sipho, Demba Tall, Alicia Wenzel and Joachim Zeller.
concept and installation: Dior Thiam
